How you could benefit from a life insurance review

Posted at 07:47h
Life Insurers, like TAL, AIA and MLC can provide insurance cover, not just for death, but also for disability insurance cover such as that found in income protection insurance and trauma insurance products. For many people, having suitable such cover is an essential part of their financial plan.

The Life Insurance industry has undergone a period of significant change in the past decade. Some well known insurers, like AMP, closed their doors to new insurance clients. Others, like BT Life and Asteron Life, have been sold to TAL.

If you have cover in place, you should regularly review if you have the right amount and types of cover, and if you are using the insurer that is right for you. The latter may change over time.

You don’t want to be over-insured and pay for more cover than you need to, and you also don’t want gaps in cover, or pay for cover you can get cheaper elsewhere.

Curve have partnered with Experien Insurance Services (Experien), a national insurance brokerage specialising in the medical sector to offer our clients a complementary insurance audit. This audit or review has the potential to highlight elements of your current cover (or lack thereof) to consider further. Importantly, Experien can talk you through the changing landscape of the insurers and how they have amended their pricing models and product features over time, and what this could mean for you.

For example, some insurers have recently introduced a loyalty tax on their premiums and these could potentially be avoided if action is taken following a review.

Experien have a large, national team of specialists who have helped their clients get over $250m in life and disability claims paid in the past. You don’t want to have an adviser who may only have experience with a few claims in the past if you need claim on your cover. Even if you are with an insurer that is right for you, you can easily appoint Experien to manage that policy for you now, so that you have access to their services with any future claim.

Experien’s reviews are complimentary and come with no obligations. They also do not charge additional adviser fees to help with any claims.
